News from January 2008

29 January 2008
Our next guest ale will take a short journey down the M4 from the West Midlands to be with us at The Fox next month.

Golden Glow (4.4% ABV), from the Holden brewery in Dudley, has a gentle moreish sweetness with an almost citrus bitter finish.  Brewed using English Maris Otter malts, Golden Glow was the Champion Beer of Britain Bronze Medal Winner in the Golden Ales Category in 2006.

Throughout February, we are offering Loyalty Card holders something for nothing.  Buy two sandwiches and we'll give you a free bowl of chips - it's as simple as that.  Just present your Loyalty Card when you place your order and we'll do the rest.

Joining the loyalty scheme is easy: complete the very short application form available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin using your card immediately.  Don't forget that if you are on our mailing list, you are automatically entered in our Monthly Prize Draw

Pick up your card and begin saving money at The Fox today.

We are very pleased to be able to offer real ale lovers a local guest ale this month.  Not just a local ale, but one that we know will go down well with our customers.

Old Hooky (4.6% ABV) from the Hook Norton brewery is a beautifully balanced beer, fruity by nature, with a well-rounded body and an echo of Crystal Malt.  A medium ruby in colour, it has a very distinctive nose with hints of clove and cinnamon and a lovely cherry fruit character. It's a creamy-textured beer that stays quite sweet in the mouth, making it an easy-drinking beer.

Reduce your carbon footprint and try one of Oxfordshire's favourite real ales this month at The Fox.

No sooner is Christmas out of the way than we start planning the next celebration.  Valentine's Day is less than six weeks away, and you know how much hell you'll get if you forget the one you love.

We've designed a menu specially for young and not so young lovers, and this year it will be available from Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 February.  Download it now, and take a look at the ingredients we'll be using, all designed to bring out the animal in you!

In addition, if you pair up with another couple and reserve a table for four, we'll give you a bottle of house wine with our compliments.

Book your table now for a romantic dinner for two (or four!) at The Fox - or there will be hell to pay!

We have some warming beers coming to The Fox this winter:

Old Hooky (4.6% ABV) from the Hook Norton brewery is a beautifully balanced beer, fruity by nature, with a well-rounded body and an echo of Crystal Malt.  A medium ruby in colour, it has a very distinctive nose with hints of clove and cinnamon and a lovely cherry fruit character. It's a creamy-textured beer that stays quite sweet in the mouth, making it an easy-drinking beer.

Golden Glow (4.4% ABV), from the Holden brewery in Dudley in the West Midlands, has a gentle moreish sweetness with an almost citrus bitter finish.  Brewed using English Maris Otter malts, Golden Glow was the Champion Beer of Britain Bronze Medal Winner in the Golden Ales Category in 2006.

Greene King Fireside (4.5% ABV) is ruby in colour, with a robust and refreshing taste.  It is a full-bodied mature English ale, late-hopped for a malty, fruity flavour.  A great winter warmer.

Pop in for a taste of real ale this winter - we'll have more choice than ever.

A very happy and prosperous New Year to you all.  I hope that the New Year's Eve headache has abated, and we can all look forward to a year with fewer floods and more sunshine.

I'm pleased to be able to give you some good news to start the year.  Having finally received part-payment from our insurers, I have ordered carpets to replace those we lost in last year's floods, and they should be laid in the first week in February.

We must thank you again for your patience while we battled with the insurance company, and hope you approve of the new design.
