meantime have you looked at our festive menu for Christmas?
We still have places available in December, but they will
fill up fast, so download your copy of our Christmas menu

Friday
16 November is Children in Need night, and here at The Fox
we will be holding our annual Mammoth Charity Quiz and
Raffle starting at 8pm.
Like our
regular Monday
night quiz, the evening will be hosted by "Big
Dave" Mather, and promises to be a laugh from start to
finish. The prizes will be significantly larger as a
thank you to everyone for helping us support Children in
Need.
To round off
the evening, we will be holding our mammoth raffle - last
year we gave away more than 50 prizes, so it's worth buying
your ticket at the bar even if you can't make it on the big
night.
And this year
we will also be awarding prizes for the best schoolboy and
schoolgirl fancy dress costumes, so why not drag out that
old school blazer, grab your old hockey stick from the back
of the wardrobe, and make a fool of yourself for charity.
The evening
starts at 8pm, and if previous years are anything to go by,
it will be one of the best nights at The Fox this year.
Speaking of
our weekly quiz, the jackpot rolled over this week, so the
jackpot next Monday will be over £350!! Every team
that enters the quiz has a chance to win the jackpot, so you
don't need to be Stephen Hawking to get rich at The Fox.
Full details of The BIG Quiz can be found
here.

Next
month, we
are offering our Loyalty Card holders
60% extra free of charge. Order a 16oz Coke or Diet
Coke and we'll charge you the price for a 10oz measure.
Just present your Loyalty Card when you order to save money
throughout November.
Joining the loyalty scheme is
easy: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. Don't forget that if you are on our
mailing list, you are automatically entered in our
Monthly Prize Draw.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.
We've got
plenty coming up for beer drinkers too. Our next guest
ale will be Ridley's
Old Bob, but after that we
have some really special ales on the way over the next
couple of months:
-
Greene King Abbot
Reserve (6.5% ABV) - a very strong ale
from Greene King; smooth and mature, a full-bodied winter warmer
-
Davenports Original
(4.0% ABV) - a malty bitter with a hint
of caramel from the Highgate brewery in
Walsall
-
Hardys and Hansons Rockin' Rudolph
(4.5% ABV) - a festive beer with all the
flavours of Christmas pudding
-
Batemans XXXB
(4.8% ABV) - a superb ale with a
delicate balance of hops and malt; a real
favourite at The Fox
20 October 2007
From this week, Friday night is Steak Night at The Fox.
Order two steaks from our
grill menu - 6oz or 10oz Sirloin, 10
oz Gammon, 8oz Fillet, or our massive Mixed Grill - and we will give
you a free bottle of red, white or rose wine free
of charge. Your
steaks will be grilled to your liking and served with all the trimmings
- onion rings, mushrooms, grilled tomato, chips, peas and salad garnish
- and you can choose to add a peppercorn or stilton sauce to accompany
your meal.
This offer
is available between 6pm and 9pm every Friday night.
We recommend that you reserve a table by calling us on 01235 821228. We look forward to taking your order.
Our
next guest ale will be Ridley's Old Bob, brewed to 5.1% by volume using a superior blend of malt and hops that characterises this
full-bodied, smooth and warming premium ale.
Old Bob proved very
popular when we ran it last autumn, so we know it will make a welcome
return when it's on tap at The Fox later this month.

Today sees the launch of our redesigned web site. You
may remember that the pub trade's newspaper, the Morning
Advertiser, selected us the South-East's best pub website in
this year's
Best Pubs Awards, and
another pub might rest on its laurels after receiving such
an award, but not us.
We have
overhauled the site and added some new features that we
think you'll find useful in keeping up to date with what's
happening and what's available at The Fox:
-
Firstly, you'll find a new menu bar at the top of each page
giving you instant access to what's happening at The Fox
each day this week. In addition, there's a "What's
On" link to a complete diary of what we have planned
- At the
top right-hand corner of our homepage, you find the date
on which the web site was last updated; our aim is to
update the web site at least every Monday morning, but we
will add new pages and the latest news as soon as it is
available
- Below
this information, you'll find a link to a page from
which you can download all our menus, including a form
with which you can pre-order your lunch, saving you
valuable time when considering where to take your
all-too-short lunch break
- As
you'll see from this page, we have consolidated our news
pages into a single page containing all the news for the
current month and the previous month, so you no longer
need to keep returning to an index page to see each news
story; instead, you can just scroll through each month's
news, saving you time in getting to the information you
want
- Also,
at the top right of the
news page, you'll see
links to all our previous news stories - again,
consolidated into monthly news bites
- The
links in the navigation and menu bars italicise when you
hover over them, and that goes for all the links
embedded in the pages too, so you'll know when there is
more information to be seen about any given topic.
Also, the menu items are highlighted in bold when you
open them, showing you where you are on the site
- You
may be interested in the history of The Fox, and we have
published a new page giving as much detail as we have
managed to gather about the
pub's past, including a
chronological listing of
licensees at The Fox
- For
those of you staying overnight at The Fox, we have added
a page giving details of
local attractions you
might care to investigate during your stay with us.
We hope you
like the cosmetic surgery we've performed on the look and feel
of the web site. We feel it has a much more appealing
appearance, and we know that you'll find it easier to
navigate to the information that interests you the most.
We're sure this latest
incarnation won't be the last, and as always we would
appreciate your feedback on what we have done and what we
are doing, so feel free to
drop us an email and let us know
what you think and what you want from your award-winning
local.

1 October 2007
Throughout October, we
are offering our Loyalty Card holders something for the onset of winter.
Order a bowl of soup
and a sandwich this month and pay just £6.50, that's a saving of up to
£1.75 on the individual prices. Unfortunately we cannot extend this
offer to include the
Janet Special, which as many of you
know is a meal in itself, but it is available for any other sandwich or
toasted sandwich.
In addition, present
your Loyalty Card when ordering any dish from the Main Meal section of our
Dinner Menu before 7.30 on Monday
evenings, and you'll pay just £5.25 - that's a saving of up to 33% on the
normal price.*
Then, having enjoyed the
saving on dinner, why not stay on for our
Big Quiz and maybe take home a
pocketful of cash too? So why not make an night of it on Monday?
Joining the loyalty scheme is
easy: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. Don't forget that if you are on our
mailing list, you are automatically entered in our
Monthly Prize Draw.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.
* Unfortunately, we are
not able to accept discount vouchers in conjunction with this offer.
