On
Friday 17 November we will be holding our third annual Big Charity Quiz in
aid of Children in Need. As last year, we'll be combining it with a
Giant Raffle and
Charity Slave Auction, so not only is there the chance to have a
fantastic, fun-filled five hours' fundraising at The Fox, you also
have the chance to win some great prizes and bid for a slave to
fulfil your heart's desires!
The star prize in the
raffle is a Barcelona football shirt signed by the World Player of
the Year, the Brazilian star Ronaldinho. When sold at a
commercial auction, this sort of item usually goes for £400-£500,
but you could pick it up for the price of a raffle ticket at The Fox.
There are dozens and dozens of
other prizes - clothing, DVDs, food and drink, and much much more, all donated by our
customers and suppliers. Raffle
tickets will be on sale throughout November, so pick yours up at the
bar.
And there's much
more to bid for in the slave auction. How about a free wedding or party disco worth £200? Child-minding,
hair styling, a chef for the night: they're all
being offered by our slaves for you to bid for on the night.
Alternatively, if you can't be there on the night, you can leave a
sealed bid with our staff.
All this and a
fun-packed quiz too! It defies belief. Almost!
Last year we raised over £1500, and we would
like to match that this year. So come on down to The Fox on
Friday 17 November and help us to help children in need. Bid for the
slave of your choice. Take part in the quiz and win yourself some
goodies. Or simply buy a raffle ticket for the chance to win dozens
of prizes. It promises once again to be a night to remember.

In addition to our
regular
brands, we also offer Greene King's seasonal ales, as well as
guest ales from other brewers. Our next guest ale will be The
Reverend James.
Full bodied and warming, rich in palate, spicy and aromatic with a
deeply satisfying finish, The Reverend James is brewed to 4.5% ABV,
making it a premium ale that has been described as having a classic
flavour not commonly available these days.
The roots of The
Reverend James trace back to 1767, when, under the ownership of Henry
Child, a prominent Methodist, the Buckleys Brewery began to brew beer in
Llanelli. The Reverend James Buckley later took on the serious
development of the brewery after his marriage to Child's daughter,
Maria.
A traditional centuries
old recipe is followed to brew this premium ale, now proving to be a
highly desirable guest ale throughout the UK, and we're sure our customers
will approve.

Here
at The Fox, in return for your support we run a
Loyalty Card Scheme.
Each month we make a money-saving offer that is only available to
loyalty card holders.
Throughout November, we
are offering something for the onset of winter. Order a bowl of soup
and a sandwich this month and pay just £5.50, that's a saving of up to
£2.50 on the individual prices. Unfortunately we cannot extend this
offer to include the
Janet Special, which as many of you
know is a meal in itself, but it is available for any other sandwich or
toasted sandwich.
In addition, present
your Loyalty Card when ordering any dish from the Main Meal section of our
Bar Menu before 7.30 on Monday
evenings, and you'll pay just £5.25 - that's a saving of up to 33% on the
normal price. (Unfortunately, we are not able to accept
discount vouchers in conjunction with this offer.)
Then, having enjoyed the
saving on dinner, why not stay on for our
Big Quiz and maybe take home a
pocketful of cash too? So why not make an night of it on Monday?
Joining the loyalty scheme is
easy: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. Don't forget that if you are on our
mailing list, you are automatically entered in our
Monthly Prize Draw.
October's winner was Judy Long of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
Next month it could be you.

Our Winter Warmers are back - steaks for less than £7!
Throughout this winter we are making a special offer to steak lovers.
We are offering you a 6oz sirloin steak grilled to your liking and
served with all the trimmings - that's chips and peas, onion rings,
mushrooms, grilled tomato and salad garnish - for just £6.75.
That's right, just £6.75.
There aren't any
catches. You don't need to carry a
loyalty card. You don't
need to order more than one meal. You don't need to order a
dessert. You don't even need to order a bottle of wine. All
you need to order is a Winter Warmer and you'll get a 6oz sirloin steak
grilled to your liking and served with all the trimmings.
The Winter Warmer will
be available every evening throughout this winter.

Our
current guest ale is Ridleys Old Bob, but we thought you'd like to know what's
coming next.
Our next guest ale will be Ruddles Orchard. Brewed to 4.2% by volume,
it combines the taste of apples with a blend of unusual hops and premium
malted barley.
Orchard proved very
popular when we ran it last autumn, so we know it will make a welcome
return when it's on tap at The Fox later this week.
