We have simplified the
menus we offer at lunchtime and in the evenings, combining our Bar Menu
with our Restaurant Menu to create a new Dinner Menu. At the same
time, we are introducing some new dishes to tempt your taste buds:
Lunch Menu
Our new Lunch Menu is
almost identical to our current Bar Menu, and we shall be adding more
new dishes to this early next year. You can download a preview of
the new Lunch Menu
here.
Dinner Menu
The new Dinner Menu
offers the best of our Lunch and Restaurant Menus, as well as a new
starter, three new main courses, and four new desserts:
Tomato and Mozzarella Salad
- sliced beef tomato and mozzarella cheese dressed with homemade
basil oil
A whole chicken breast, grilled, with baby potatoes, fresh
vegetables and a Dijon mustard sauce
Two new steaks:
6
oz Sirloin Steak and a 16 oz T-bone Steak, both
grilled to your liking, and served with grilled tomato, mushrooms
and onion rings, chips and peas
Four new desserts
(also available on our Lunch Menu):
Mixed Berry and Vanilla Cream Tart with Fresh Cream; Treacle and
Orange Tart and Custard; Chocolate Lovin’ Spoonful Cream Gateau and
Vanilla Ice Cream; Homemade Bread and Butter Pudding and Custard
You can download a
preview of the new dinner menu
here.
The Lunch Menu will be
available from 11.30am to 2.15pm, Monday to Friday, and 11.30am to
6.00pm at weekends. The Dinner Menu will be available from 6.00pm
to 9.00pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 6.00pm to 9.00pm on Sundays.
We hope you like the

Here
at The Fox, in return for your support we run a
Loyalty Card Scheme.
Each month we make a money-saving offer that is only available to
loyalty card holders.
Throughout December, we
are offering something to anyone driving to their Christmas party at The
Fox. Order a round of four drinks, and you can have any
non-alcoholic or low alcohol drink free of charge - in effect, buy four,
get one free. All you need to do is present your Loyalty Card when
you place your order.
Joining the loyalty scheme is
easy: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. Don't forget that if you are on our
mailing list, you are automatically entered in our
Monthly Prize Draw.
October's winner was Judy Long of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
Next month it could be you.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.

On
Friday 17 November we held our third annual Big Charity Quiz in
aid of Children in Need, combining it with a
Mega Raffle and
Charity Slave Auction.
We are very pleased to announce that once again you exceeded our
expectations and for the second year running you donated over £1,000
to the appeal. In fact, you raised £1,246.85 - an amazing sum
of money for a small village pub.
At the end of the night, one lucky customer, Ronnie Brooks, won the
star raffle prize – a Barcelona football shirt signed by the World
Player of the Year, Brazilian Ronaldinho.
A
few individuals in particular deserve special mention: Derek
Fletcher and Chris Whitehead of Boogie Nights Discos donated a free
party disco to the highest bidder. This prize was bought by
Robin Wilkinson of Steventon for the sum of £150, and he immediately
donated the disco to St. Michael's School, Steventon, so that the
kids can have a free school disco in the New Year - a very generous
donation indeed. Thanks, Robin.
Nic
Gibbs, our Head Chef, donated himself as a slave to cook dinner at
one lucky person's home. (Nic is the one on the right in the
photo; the handsome man on
the left is his son, Ethan!) Nic's
services were bought by Karen Boyle of Timsbury Close, Steventon, on
the condition that Nic cooks dinner in only a thong! Thanks,
Nic, for being such a good sport, and to Karen, too, for her
generous bid of £90 for her slave.
(We would like to assure everyone that there is no intention to
introduce this dress code in the kitchen at The Fox.)
Whether
you donated a raffle prize, took part in our charity quiz, bid in
our slave auction, bought a raffle ticket, or simply offered to get
your kit off in the kitchen(!) everyone played a part in raising this
fantastic sum of money, and we are very grateful for your generous
support.
We'll be doing it all again next
year, so
see you in November 2007 for more fun and mayhem.

The Fox Inn in would like to thank all our customers for your
support this year, with a particularly big "Thank You" for your
support of our fundraising activities. Your help is very much
appreciated.
On New Year's Eve we will be
celebrating the arrival of 2007 with "The Great Steventon T Party".
Fancy dress is optional, but it'll be easy to choose a costume -
just come as anything beginning with the letter T, and you'll be in
with a chance of winning a prize for the best (or worst!) costume of
the night. So why not come along as Tom Jones, Tinkerbell or
one third of the Three Degrees, a teapot, a transvestite or a
turtle, and make a fool of yourself one last time in 2006? The
fun starts at 7pm, and we'll be laying on a buffet of afternoon tea,
too!
Wherever you
choose to celebrate, everyone at The Fox wishes you a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

For
the second successive year, The
Fox Inn has been short-listed in a competition recognising the best pubs
in the country. The Morning Advertiser, the national newspaper
serving the licensed trade, has given an award to The Fox in The
Best Pubs 2007 competition, naming this web site as the best pub web
site in the South East.
In winning this
regional award, The Fox is automatically entered along with seven
other regional winners to find the best pub web site in the country.
The judges will be looking for the site that has delivered the most
cost-effective contribution to that pub's success, and bearing in
mind that The Fox's web site cost nothing to design but receives
more than 5,000 hits a month, we must be in with as good a chance as
any other site.
The overall national
winner will be announced in London on 1 February 2007, and we will
let you know how we get on. In the meantime, we always welcome
your ideas or suggestions for how we can make our site more useful
to you, so
please let us know.

In addition to our
regular
brands, we also offer Greene King's seasonal ales, as well as
guest ales from other brewers. Our next guest ale will be Tom
Wood's Bomber County.
Brewed by the
Highwood Brewery in Lincolnshire, Bomber County
has the image of the Lancaster bomber on the logo, Lincolnshire having
been a centre for heavy bomber squadrons during the Second World War.
Bomber County
is a special dark red beer brewed to 4.8% ABV, and has the dry hoppy characteristics of all Highwood Brewery Beers.
