Here
at The Fox, in return for your support we run a
Loyalty Card Scheme.
Each month we make a money-saving offer that is only available to
loyalty card holders.
This month we are
offering parents a great deal on food. To celebrate the
introduction of our new and improved
children's menu, whenever you buy a
child's meal in August, we'll give you a second child's meal absolutely
free. That should help ease the strain of keeping the family
entertained during the summer holidays.
Joining the loyalty scheme is
easy: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.

Last
month I told you about the
work to install new toilets at The Fox. Since then,
work has progressed in the rest of the pub, and I am pleased to say that
virtually all the work to redecorate the bar has now been completed.
Gone are the peeling wallpaper and nicotine-stained ceilings; in their
place, a new cream colour scheme that makes the whole bar cleaner and
brighter.
And do you remember
that worn and stained carpet in front of the bar? Well, that has
gone too, replaced by new walnut wooden flooring in keeping with the new
decor.
Everyone
at The Fox is extremely pleased with the new look of the place, and that
goes for our customers too. For the past two years you've been
telling me - and quite rightly - that the place needed refurbishing, but
now, for the past two weeks, all I've been hearing is how wonderful the
place looks. It took fifteen years to get the work done, but now
that it's finished it seems it has your unanimous approval.
There are one or two
snags left to fix, and I'm currently going about the job of putting the
pictures and blackboards back up, but to all intents and purposes the
work to improve The Fox has finished for now, and I would like to repeat
my thanks to you for tolerating the minor inconveniences when the
builders and painters were here.
Of course, now I'm
being asked when we're planning to redecorate the restaurant.
Well, would you mind if I finish paying for the new bar before starting
work on the new restaurant? I'd be very grateful!
Call in and see the new
Fox soon - the same big menu, the same big sandwiches, and the same big
welcome, but now in much, much better surroundings.

We
had a magical customer at The Fox last
weekend.
Mr Alan Shaxon,
President of The Magic Circle, called in for dinner last Saturday.
(We recognised Alan from his numerous appearances on television.)
He is one of Britain's foremost
magicians - he'd have to be, to be elected President of The Magic
Circle! - and was asked to teach sleight of hand to Tom Cruise for the actor's role in Mission
Impossible.
Like the magician
he is, he disappeared as quickly as he arrived, but it was a pleasure meeting him for the short time he was here.
Alan is most famous for
his trick where he casts
a fishing line into the audience and catches live goldfish. Mysteriously, we lost
two fish from our pond last week. Coincidence?

In
addition to our regular brands, we also offer Greene King's seasonal
ales, as well as guest ales from other brewers. Our current guest
ale is Tribute from the
St. Austell Brewery in Cornwall.
Brewed at
4.2% abv, it is a premium
hand-crafted ale to be savoured, and has become a popular
favourite with drinkers both in Cornwall and farther up country.
Its moreish hoppy flavour with a fresh citrus nose compliments a fine
chicken, gammon or fish dish, and was very popular when we had it on tap
last summer.
