Here
at The Fox, in return for your support we run a
Loyalty Card Scheme.
Each month we make a money-saving offer that is only available to
loyalty card holders.
Throughout November,
we are offering you something for nothing. Buy a single shot of
any of our spirits on optic and we'll give you a cordial or mixer for
free. So that's a gin and tonic for the price of just the gin, a
rum and blackcurrant for the price of just the rum, or a whisky and
lemonade for the price of just the whisky, and so on.
Joining the scheme is simple: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. It's that easy.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.
Who
wants to be a beerlionaire? It could be you.
Every Sunday night in
November, three people could become beerlionaires, winning 72 free
pints of bitter, lager or cider. Yes, that's 72 pints!
How does it work?
The quiz follows
roughly the same format as Chris Tarrant's famous TV show:
- Each
contestant has three lives - ask for a clue, ask the staff, or
ask for a different question
- Each life can
be used only once
- At any stage,
each contestant has the opportunity to stick at what he or she
has won rather than answering the next question
- Even if an
incorrect answer is given, if the contestant has answered 5
questions correctly they are guaranteed 5 free pints; if
they have answered 8 questions correctly they are guaranteed 22
free pints! Of course, if they answer 13 consecutive
questions correctly, they will win 72 free pints courtesy of The
Fox Inn.
How do you enter?
It couldn't be easier. From 7pm to 10pm each
Sunday night in November, every time you buy a drink at The Fox
you'll be given an entry ticket to "Who Wants to be a Beerlionaire".
Buy a pint of Greene King cask ale and you'll receive two entry
tickets. At 8pm, 9pm and
10pm, a lucky contestant will be chosen at random to come forward
and test their wits with a chance to win up to 72 free pints.
It couldn't be
simpler and promises to be great fun. So if you want to win
free beer, come on down - sorry, wrong game show! - to The Fox at
7pm each Sunday in November. We look forward to seeing you.
Good luck.

Last
night it was Anchors Away-hay-hay at
The Big Quiz. The Anchors
Away team - better known as Chris and Suzanne, landlord and landlady
at The Admiral Benbow in Milton - scooped the £500 jackpot in a
thrilling pontoon play-off at the end of another exciting night at
The Fox. Congratulations to them both.
If you've not taken
part before, The Big Quiz is a very simple format:
it's a fun-packed two and a half hours of general knowledge trivia
every Monday night, with spot prizes for the winners of each of the
four rounds - TV & Film, Pot Luck, Sport and Music. At the end
of the night there's a "Play Your Cards Right" competition to
determine which teams will compete in the pontoon play-off for the
cash jackpot.
Teams of any size can enter, and it costs just £1 per
person to play, all entry fees going towards the cash jackpot at the end
of the night. The emphasis is on fun, so the jackpot isn't just available to
particularly clever
teams but to
every team that enters. As we like to say, it is
big, but it isn't clever.
The rolling jackpot
starts again next week, and you could be going home £300 richer.
We hope to see you next Monday.

The
Fox Inn has been short-listed in a competition to find the best pubs
in the country. The Morning Advertiser, the national newspaper
serving the licensed trade, has chosen The Fox as one of the very
best pubs in the category of
Newcomer of the Year for 2005.
The award is open to licensees who have been in the trade for less
than two years, and is the second time we have been short-listed for
such an award. In February we were a regional finalist in
Greene King's Annual
Excellence Awards, but now we have gone one better,
being singled out as one of the best pubs not just in the Greene
King estate but in the industry as a whole.
This is a tremendous
achievement for everyone at The Fox. Since
March 2004,
business has increased by no less than 73% as a result of the team's
commitment to raising the standards of service to our customers.
Hopefully the competition judges will recognise the team's hard work
when the final results are announced later this year. Whether
or not they do, our customers already know what we have achieved so
far, and the entire team would like to thank them for their support
this year.

On
Friday 18 November we will be holding our second annual Big Charity Quiz in
aid of Children in Need. This year we'll be combining it with a
Mega Raffle and
Charity Slave Auction, so not only is there the chance to have a
fantastic, fun-filled five hours' fundraising at The Fox, you also
have the chance to win some great prizes and bid for a slave to
fulfil your heart's desires!
The star prize in the
raffle is a framed England football shirt signed by David Beckham,
Michael Owen, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, Sol
Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, Darius Vassell, Owen Hargreaves, Kieron
Dyer, Philip Neville, Gary Neville, Danny Mills, Emile Heskey,
Gareth Southgate and Martin Keown.
When sold at a
commercial auction, this sort of item usually goes for £400-£500,
but you could pick it up for the price of a raffle ticket at The Fox on Friday 18
November.
There are dozens and dozens of
other prizes - a
Fox FM Goody Bag, radio cool-boxes, footballs, clothing, food and
drink, beauty products, DVDs, and much much more, all donated by our
customers and suppliers. Raffle
tickets will be on sale throughout November, so pick yours up at the
bar.
And there's much
more to bid for in the slave auction. How about a limo and chauffer for the day?
A free wedding or party disco worth £200? Child-minding,
dog-walking, hair styling, a free manicure, a detox: they're all
being offered by our slaves for you to bid for on the night.
Alternatively, if you can't be there on the night, you can leave a
sealed bid with our staff.
Here's a complete list
of the slaves we have on offer at the time of writing, but there are
sure to be more added as we near the big night:

Finally, we have two
idiots ... errum, volunteers ... who are sacrificing their bodies
and good looks(?) for charity. Alan Thomson, our head barman,
is being sponsored to have his chest waxed, while the landlord,
Peter Kidd, will have his head shaved for the cause.
All this and a
fun-packed quiz too! It defies belief. Almost!
Last year we raised over £500, and we would
like to double that this year. So come on down to The Fox on
Friday 18 November and help us help children in need. Bid for the
slave of your choice. Take part in the quiz and win yourself some
goodies. Or simply buy a raffle ticket for the chance to win dozens
of prizes. It promises to be a night to remember.

In
addition to our regular brands,
we also offer Greene King's seasonal ales, as well as guest ales from
other brewers.
Our new guest ale is Caledonian 80/-. Brewed to 4.1% by volume,
Caledonian 80/- has a russet-brown colour and a malty, fruity aroma with
hint of raspberry. Smooth, creamy, with a well-balanced
dryness and a soft hoppy finish, it is a very easily drinkable ale that
won awards in CAMRA's Scottish Beer of the Year competition for two years in
succession.
