The
Fox Inn in would like to thank all our customers for your support
this year, with a particularly big "Thank You" for your support of
our fundraising activities. Your help has been very much
appreciated.
On New Year's Eve we will be
celebrating the arrival of 2006 with a 70s Night - free entry, all
your favourite music from the glam decade, and a free 70s style
buffet.
Fancy dress is optional, but there
will be prizes for the best and worst outfits of the night, so dig
out your silver lamé shirts, 18" flares, and your platform glitter
boots - not forgetting your "favourite" stripy tank top! - and make
a fool of yourself one last time in 2005.
Wherever you
choose to celebrate, everyone at The Fox wishes you a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Here
at The Fox, in return for your support we run a
Loyalty Card Scheme.
Each month we make a money-saving offer that is only available to
loyalty card holders.
Throughout December,
we are offering you something for nothing. Buy a sandwich from our
bar menu and we'll give you a free packet of crisps to go with it.
Joining the scheme is simple: complete the very short application form
available from the bar, hand it to the bar staff, and you can begin
using your card immediately. It's that easy.
Pick up your card and begin saving
money at The Fox today.

On
Friday 18 November we held our second annual Big Charity Quiz in
aid of Children in Need, this year combined with a
Mega Raffle and
Charity Slave Auction.
We are very pleased to announce that our appeal exceeded all
expectations. Last year we raised over £500, and this year we were
aiming to double that figure. In fact, when all the money pledged
has been collected, we will have raised £1502.23, an amazing sum of
money for a small village pub.
At the end of the night, one lucky customer, Julian Moon, won the
star raffle prize – a framed England football shirt signed by the
team and worth over £500 - but the fun didn't finish there.
On Monday evening, Peter Kidd, the landlord, had his head shaved in
the bar while Alan Thomson, the head barman, had his chest waxed ...

Not at all embarrassing or
painful. Not at all!
We would like to thank everyone
who took part in the week's activities, whether
they donated a raffle prize, took part in our charity quiz, bid in
our slave auction, bought a raffle ticket, or simply dropped some
loose change in the bucket, everyone played a part in raising this
fantastic sum of money, and we - and Pudsey - are very grateful.
See you next year for more fun and mayhem.

In
addition to our regular brands,
we also offer Greene King's seasonal ales, as well as guest ales from
other brewers.
Our new guest ale is Ruddles Orchard. Brewed to 4.2% by volume,
its combines the taste of apple with a blend of unusual hops and premium
malted barley.
Our next guest ale will
be one for the dark winter nights - Greene King Fireside, a full-bodied
mature English ale late-hopped for a mellow fruity flavour.

We
were pleased to welcome two very special visitors to The Fox a few weeks
ago. The first was Mrs Janet Woodcock who, as Janet Webb, grew up
at The Fox when her father,
Harry Webb, was landlord. Janet was
accompanied by her husband, Colin, and their daughter, Jac.
The second was their
friend,
Clare Balding, best known as one of BBC
Television's leading sports presenters. During her evening with us,
Clare learned that one of our regulars, Dick Stevens, had written to her
at the BBC, and she was very pleased and relieved to learn that she had
replied to his letter and sent him a signed photograph. It's one
of Dick's prized possessions.
Janet and Colin are
retiring and moving out of the village, and Janet took the opportunity
to visit her old home one last time and relive some of her childhood
memories. It was a real pleasure to meet them, and we are indebted
to Jac Woodcock for sending us this photograph as a reminder of a happy
evening at The Fox.
