We are delighted to announce that The Morning Advertiser, the national newspaper serving the licensed trade, has chosen The Fox as the Newcomer of the Year for the Central region. 

To celebrate this award and the start of what we hope will be a wonderful new year for all our friends, we are giving away wine so that you can raise a glass to 2006.  Every party eating in our restaurant in January and choosing four main courses from our restaurant menu will be given a free bottle of sparkling wine with our compliments and our thanks for your support during the past year.

In October, The Fox was short-listed in a competition to find the best pubs in the country.  We are pleased to announce that The Morning Advertiser, the national newspaper serving the licensed trade, has chosen us as Newcomer of the Year for the Central region. 

The award is open to licensees who have been in the trade for less than two years, and is the second time we have been short-listed for such an award.  In February we were a regional finalist in Greene King's Annual Excellence Awards,  but now we have gone one better, being singled out as one of the best pubs not just in the Greene King estate but in the whole of the UK. 

This is a tremendous achievement for everyone at The Fox.  The finals night - the Oscars for the pub industry - is on 2 February, and hopefully the competition judges will recognise the team's hard work when they decide which of the regional winners will win the national award.  Watch this space!

 

In addition to our regular brands, we also offer Greene King's seasonal ales, as well as guest ales from other brewers. 

Our current guest ale is Greene King's Fireside.  Ruby in colour, with a robust and refreshing taste, its citrus hops leave a mellow, fruity linger on the palate.  It is a full-bodied mature English ale brewed to 4.5% by volume, and late-hopped for a malty, fruity flavour.
